September is National Preparedness Month, and this year’s theme is, “Disasters Don’t Wait, Make Your Plan Today.” The City of Los Angeles has numerous programs and services to help its citizens plan, prepare, and recover from disasters. Please visit the Emergency Management Department’s website for more info.
One of the most important programs the City has is called RYLAN (Ready Your LA Neighborhood). This is a great opportunity for you and your neighbors to discuss how you can help each other right after a disaster.
You can use the DIY (Do It Yourself) method, or you have the option to request a staff member from the Emergency Management Department to conduct and facilitate your RYLAN workshop via Zoom or Google Meet. While many Neighborhood Councils are leading their community’s preparedness plans, anyone willing to take the lead may request a RYLAN workshop.
Before the pandemic started, staff would perform this in person, but now this is being done virtually. We encourage you to sign up, and help your community be more prepared.
