A pair of shootings in less than 10 hours and just a couple miles apart from each other have police searching for six suspects on Christmas Eve in the Canoga Park areas. Authorities have not said if the shootings are connected.

A man in his 40s was shot at a home in Canoga Park just before 1 a.m. on the 8000 block of Loma Verde Avenue. According to police, several suspects on bikes approached the man in his garage, and shot him in the stomach. Investigators have not said what led to that shooting, adding that four men are being sought who fled on bicycles.

The incident followed an earlier shooting at at 3:15 p.m. Monday at a home on the 6900 block of Variel Avenue near Hart Street, also in Canoga Park. In that shooting, a man was shot in the leg and hospitalized in stable condition, according to Los Angeles police Lt. Eric Eppolito said. Once again, police did not release details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

Two men are still being sought, he said, but suspect descriptions were not released.

Anyone with information was asked to call the LAPD’s Topanga Division at 818-756-4811. Tipsters can also call the LAPD’s 24-hour tipline at 877-527- 3247, or by contacting Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.

  1. Are we ever going to get descriptions of the suspects or do we need a third shooting for the ol’ “three’s a charm”…?

  2. That’s why I have a CCW to protect my self and family

  3. Will gun owners ever stop shooting people? Perhaps we need to do something about this. You could be next.

    • Katharine Zavala good guys with guns become criminals with guns the first time they shoot their spouse, or go postal at work, or attack school children or engage in one of the myriad other nasty things gun owners do. By then it is too late. It might be you the next time. We can and should stop the crime before it happens.

    • Ken Erbeznik , you mean when will criminals stop shooting people. There is a law against that.
