Survey Asks LA Residents For Input On Replacing Police With ‘Unarmed Trained Specialists’

City Council President Nury Martinez (CD6), along with Councilmembers Blumenfield (CD3), Harris-Dawson (CD8), Price (CD9), and Wesson (CD10) have released a survey seeking input on public safety in the City of LA. Links are below, to take the survey – which is open through Friday August 14th – in English or Spanish. Your responses will help the City Council partner with communities to develop an unarmed model of crisis response that will divert non-violent calls for service away from LAPD and toward unarmed, non-law enforcement agencies.

Along with the survey, these Councilmembers also announced a series of virtual town halls entitled “Reimagining Public Safety: An Unarmed Crisis Response,” on August 13th, 20th, and 27th.
Thursday (8/13) will be the first Reimagining Public Safety: An Unarmed Crisis Response series. The goal is to establish a true partnership with the community to shape a new vision for public safety. This will be the first of three virtual community conversations. You must register before to participate via Zoom and ask your questions and offer suggestions to the Councilmembers.
