Activities normally include conducting drills and exercises, and at a minimum, practicing the earthquake safety steps ‘Drop, Cover, and Hold On’ as if experiencing a major earthquake.
The Great ShakeOut earthquake drills are based on scenario earthquakes that could affect the area if they were to actually take place. Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills are an annual opportunity for people in homes, schools, and organizations to practice what to do during earthquakes, and to improve preparedness.
The Great Shakeout takes place every year at 10:20 am.
